How to set up a social media approval workflow
The short answer
In SSS Social a post waits for approval in two cases: when its author is a teammate without permission to publish, and when it comes from a website you set to need review. Someone who can publish then approves it on the Posts page, or rejects it with a note and it goes back to its author as a draft.
Approval needs nothing extra: give the writer a role that cannot publish, and every post they write waits for you.
How to manage several client brands in SSS Social as an agencyWho writes, who approves
- Creator — writes and schedules posts, which wait for approval.
- Reviewer — approves or rejects posts waiting for review.
- Manager and Full control — publish directly and approve others’ posts.
- Custom — tick exactly the permissions a person should have.
Auto-posts can wait too
A connected website can be set so every post it makes needs review. New articles are still planned on your schedule, but nothing goes out until someone approves it.
Separate for every client
Each workspace has its own team, so an agency can give a client’s staff a reviewer role in that client’s workspace only.
How it works, step by step
- Choose a paid package. Teammates start with the paid packages — the free package is for one person.
- Invite your team. Open People, invite each person by email and give them a role — Creator for writers, Reviewer for approvers.
- Writers schedule as usual. A Creator’s posts are saved as waiting for approval.
- Approve or reject. On the Posts page, approve a waiting post, or reject it with a note so its author can change it.
What it costs
Free: 2 workspaces, 30 posts a month, one person — no card, no end date.
Paid packages from $8.00 for 30 days (Pro), tax included. A package never renews by itself.
Every package and add-on, with its limits
Questions and answers
Can a post publish without approval by mistake?
A teammate without publish permission cannot publish: their posts are held for approval whatever they choose. Only people with publish permission can approve them.
What happens to a rejected post?
It goes back to drafts for its author, with your note, so they can change it and send it again.
Can I approve auto-posts from my blog?
Yes. Set the website to need review and every post it makes waits on the Posts page until someone approves it.
Is the approval workflow on the free package?
Website posts can wait for review on any package. Teammates and roles start with the paid packages.
